  1. Takin’ Out the Trash

“You can ask your partners to come in now. Tell them to take him to his house and dump him on the front porch.” She shook her head at Creighton’s crumpled form.

“Are you sure you don’t want us to drive him out to the National Forest and leave him there?” I raised an eyebrow.

She snorted. “It would be so easy to fuck up his life, but he’ll fuck it up more if we deliver him home safely. We won’t have to do a thing and acquire the karmic debt. I’d rather he did it to himself, thanks.”

“Okay.” I smirked as I opened the door to the outside where Nessie waited. Gopher stood near the van, his hands in his pockets and his shoulders hunched. “Come in and get him. Take him to his residence and leave him on the porch wrapped in his coat.”

Gopher blew out a sharp breath. “Fuck, it’s about time. My balls are fuckin’ frozen.”

I nodded and stepped out of the way for them to enter. Rochelle had already broken the circle and swept away the evidence that it had been anything but chalk. Nessie nodded to her and instructed Gopher to pick up Creighton’s feet while she hooked her arms under his pits. I held the door open for them as Rochelle packed all her things in a rolling suitcase.

“I’m gonna sleep for a week.” She rubbed her eyes as she followed me out to watch Gopher and Nessie load up Creighton’s unconscious body into the van.

I glanced over at her. “Just sleeping? Are you sure I can’t entice you to do something else?”

A sultry smile curled her lips. “It depends on what you had in mind. I might be persuaded.”
