Daelyn Morgana takes a fifth #SwiftFicFriday win!
Check out her story below and congratulate her on Twitter 🙂
Hades stood at the end of a one-way rocky path. A frown creased his expression and furrowed his brow, hands clasped behind his back. The sounds of torment that wafted over the towering walls ahead always bothered him more than he cared to admit.
“How long have you been standing there?”
He turned half way to notice Tisiphone walking down the path toward the gated doors, curling her whip in her hands. The Fury sister had blood on her hands, a normal occurrence. “Too long, likely.”
“Do you need something?”
“Not at all.”
“Then why are you standing at the edge of Tartarus?”
A faint chuckle escaped Hades. “I’m not quite sure. Tisiphone, should you not be up on your perch at the gates?” He gestured toward the columns across the River of Fire.
A scowl crossed the Furies’ face as if she resented being called out. “I am heading there once more. The last greedy bastard snapped the last life out of my whip and I needed it replaced.”
“Don’t patronize me, King Hades. No evil will escape this house of sin on my watch.”
His lips pursed into a thin line, both at the title reminder and the obvious disdain in her voice. “Except right now you are not on your watch, might I point out,” Hades growled. “Now return to it.”
Tisiphone mocked a bow. “As you wish.” Then she sauntered off toward the gates.
After being sure she was out of earshot Hades sighed deeply and pushed a hand over his hair. He glared up at the walls. Some days he would give anything to challenge his brothers to a dominion swap. Today was definitely one of those days.
Come back on Friday for the next prompt!
