Last week’s writing prompt saw a great group of stories and we have a winner – Ever Addams!
Check out her story below and congratulate her on Twitter 🙂
Li pointed the bloody forceps at Qin. “That changes everything.”
Qin continued weighing the corpse’s organ as though Li was merely talking about the weather as opposed to attempting to discuss his accidental confession.
Tao came hustling through the lab door. “Got the results back on those fingerprints. Whoa! Put that thing away.”
Qin paused, heart in hand. The only evidence that he was aware of his impending doom was that he gripped the heart a little too tightly. Pink fluid sloshed through his fingers and spattered into the tray below.
“Forget about the fingerprints, Tao,” said Li, seizing the moment. “I’ve just cracked the case of the century. Qin’s not gay. He’s bi.”
Tao rolled his eyes. “No kidding.”
She adjusted her glasses. “Wait, you know?”
“I’m a goddamn detective. And his best friend. Course I know.”
Behind them, Qin choked on something. Presumably his dignity, but neither of them turned to verify.
Li continued her inquiry. “Did you also know he wants to get in my pants?”
The clatter of a medical tray colliding with the tile floor.
Now Tao was choking and sputtering.
“You know that too? Well, shit! What about you?”
Tao backed up towards the door.
“You idiots! Think of all the time we’ve wasted!”
Qin put the heart in the tray and stripped off his gloves. “Please, Li. Silence. I need silence in the lab.”
“Stuff it, Qin. We could have been having a loud happy squirming threesome all these months instead of each of us going home alone.”
Tao had a coughing fit. “How can you talk about this like it’s nothing?”
Come back on Friday for the next prompt!
